Neelands Supports FeedHalton with Refrigeration Project and Community Initiatives

October 20, 2024

Neelands Group is proud to have partnered with FeedHalton to install their refrigeration capabilities, ensuring the organization can provide fresh, healthy food to those in need in the Halton Region. The Burlington Food Bank began planning for the new organization and facility 3.5 years ago, and now, with a 13,000 square foot building—featuring an 11,000 square foot warehouse with 30-foot-high ceilings–FeedHalton now has the capacity to meet its mandate of “feeding our community together”.

Neelands Group designed, supplied and installed an 18’ x 30’ x 15’ walk-in cooler and an 18’ x 25’ x 15’ walk-in freezer, significantly enhancing FeedHalton’s ability to store perishable goods. Additionally, Neelands donated a temperature control and monitoring system to ensure that stored products are always kept at optimal conditions. All equipment suppliers and sub-contractors involved are all local to the Burlington/Halton community.

By installing the refrigeration systems, Neelands has also helped FeedHalton to increase its storage capacity, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency—ensuring that more people in the community have access to essential, perishable items. This project is just one way Neelands demonstrates its commitment to community development and helping local non-profits thrive.

“As a company rooted in Burlington, we believe in giving back to the community that has supported us,” said Noel Neelands, President of Neelands Group. “Our work with FeedHalton reflects our commitment to creating lasting, positive change and helping to provide resources for those who need it most.”

Executive Director Robin Bailey also commented on the significance of the collaboration, “We are incredibly grateful to Neelands Group for their generous donation and expert installation of our new refrigeration and freezer systems, along with the advanced temperature control and monitoring system. As the newly launched Halton Region food distribution hub, this infrastructure is critical at FeedHalton to safely store and distribute fresh and perishable foods and allows us to better serve our community. The incredible support from Neelands Group has a direct impact on thousands of families in the Region who rely on food banks and social service organizations for consistent access to healthy, nutritious food. On behalf of everyone at FeedHalton, thank you Neelands Group for helping us to broaden our service offering and make an impact on alleviating hunger in our Region.”

Neelands is dedicated to fostering strong community relationships and supporting vital local organizations like FeedHalton, which plays an essential role in providing food security for vulnerable populations. Through initiatives like this, Neelands continues to strengthen its ties to the Burlington and broader Halton community and promote the well-being of all its residents.
